Key First Nation – Home Health Worker
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Health, the Home Health Worker is responsible for providing personal care, home management, and respite assistance to clients, based on assessed needs. Personal care provided by the Home Health Worker will be assigned and supervised by the Community Health Nurse.
General duties:
• Provide personal care, home management, and respite care.
• Home management tasks include:
o Light housekeeping
o Laundry
o Menu Planning
o Shopping assistance
o Assisting with client’s personal business
• Personal Care tasks include:
o Assisting clients to be independent
o Daily hygiene assistance
o Bathing & Grooming
o Assistance with transfers/mobility
• Respite Assistance tasks include:
o Supervision of and assistance of clients who cannot be left alone.
o Support, encouragement and guidance to family members caring for terminally ill clients living at home.
• Report relevant changes in client’s condition or caregiver status to supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of care given and health status changes observed in clients.
• Attend training programs and inservices to maintain/increase knowledge base.
• Submitting monthly reports to supervisor.
• Willing to volunteer in the community.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Home Care Certificate
· Must a graduate from an accredited training program.
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· Must have a demonstrated ability to work with others.
· Valid driver’s license.
